Main cooperatives


The cooperative movement is one of the main economic forces in our state. There are 3.2 million members, that is, 74.5% of the population of Rio Grande do Sul is linked to cooperativism and 24.8% of the population of Rio Grande do Sul is associated with a cooperative. Together, the 423 cooperatives in Rio Grande do Sul generate approximately 59,000 direct jobs, in 2021 they obtained record revenues of R$ 74.1 billion.

The cooperative system in Rio Grande do Sul brings together cooperatives from seven areas of activity: Agriculture, Credit, Health, Infrastructure, Transport, Consumption and Work, Production of Goods and Services.

Agricultural cooperatives form, today, the economically strongest segment of cooperativism in Rio Grande do Sul. The 121 cooperatives bring together 336,300 associated producers and directly employ 40,000 workers in the sectors of grains, milk, inputs, horticulture, retail, animal protein, representation, viticulture, technical schools for rural production, wool.
