Rio Grande do Sul currently has 40 digital game companies, 37 of which are associated with ADJogosRS, the entity that organizes the sector locally. In the national context, the State is the 2nd production center, surpassed only by São Paulo. The companies are, as a rule, micro and small and are located in the regions of Porto Alegre, Gravataí, Viamão, Canoas, Novo Hamburgo, São Leopoldo, Caxias do Sul, Pelotas and Santa Maria. Throughout 2021, the sum of revenues from associated companies reached BRL 78.5 million, which represents a growth of 19% compared to 2020 and more than 20x compared to 2013, the year the association was founded.

2021 was a year of intense production for associated companies: 276 games were developed in all, 63% of which were own games and 37% provided services to partner studios, spread across the other states of the country and 12 countries around the world. Of the 45 company-owned games launched throughout the year, the majority (69%) were destined for the mobile platform. The sector also stood out for the high number of awards, 14 in the year, and for the robust growth in terms of job vacancies generated (+51%). In all, there are already 1,231 professionals employed in the segment in RS.

Rio Grande do Sul is a pioneer in the training of specialized labor, and has an extensive network of universities and colleges that offer undergraduate and graduate programs in the area:
